5 Simple Strategies to Ensure Business Growth This Year

If you’re a passionate entrepreneur, you’re probably always thinking about ways to grow your business and expand your success each year.  Some folks like “baby steps” to business growth while others prefer “quantum leaps.”

No matter what camp you happen to belong to, there are 5 simple strategies to ensure business growth this year.

  1. Get clear on the vision you want for your business this year and write down some concrete goals with specific “achieve by” dates. Goals without specific dates are just vague dreams.
  2. Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone.  You can stretch yourself a little, or you can stretch yourself a lot, but you CAN NOT stay exactly the same and expect growth.  If you’re totally comfortable where you are, that is a sign you’re not stretching yourself and you’re not going to see the kind of growth you desire. Don’t be afraid to look foolish, that’s how we learn and that’s how we grow.
  3. Consistently build relationships.  Connect with your ideal clients, colleagues, and others who can support you in your business success.  As an entrepreneur and a small business owner, you have an advantage over big corporations: YOU.  Even with huge marketing budgets and the latest technology changes, nothing beats making a human connection.
  4. Stay focused.  Plan your course of action and stick with it.  Many entrepreneurs get sidetracked and never see the results they want because they don’t stick with a single idea long enough for it to pan out. Don’t get me wrong, you do have to be creative, flexible, and a fast thinker to survive in business but following through on your ideas is the key to success.
  5. Get the support your need to grow.  If you’re struggling with making things happen in your business, stepping outside of your comfort zone, or you’re just not meeting your business goals in general, get some help.  Join a mastermind group and/or hire a mentor or coach who will help you achieve the succes you’re looking for.

Tiffany, have you hacked my pc and read my 2012 plan. Ha! Boy you nailed some things I’m committed to this year.

A vision has guided me since 2 years before actually starting my business. About 3 years in I learned the power of focus; and have spent the years since narrowing that focus each successive year. 2, 3, and 4 are definitely part of my plan this go ’round!

Thanks for this post!

These are great tips, Tiffany. Can’t wait to post them on my wall while I do my strategic plan for 2012 (I’m just a little behind; I usually like to have it done by now, but this year life got in the way–so part of my strategic plan this year will need to encompass strategy for when life gets in the way!)

I agree with every one of these, and I know we’ve talked about some of them, as well. The thing about building relationships is a good one for me since I have recently moved.

Stepping outside your comfort zone is the best reminder. So often I find myself slipping back into my old, comfortable ways because it’s easy … instead of really going for a big goal that makes me feel uncomfortable. That’s why I love accountability partners and masterminds so much – they support me in my big goals!
